Represents 16 Pacific Island countries, namely Cook
Islands, Fiji, Federated
States of Micronesia, French Polynesia, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru,
New Caledonia, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tonga,
Tuvalu, Vanuatu, and Samoa.
There are three main areas of support:
Trade and Business Development
Support services include:
provision of information to Australian and New Zealand companies and
organisations on opportunities for trade and investment;
marketing and product services including product development, market
development,
market research (link to Australian and New Zealand markets), trade
promotion (link to
new/trade fairs section), industry development, import
procurement/management and tourism;
counselling on commercial practice, business planning and sound
business management;
advice on packaging and labelling;
credit checks on potential business partners; i
import regulations and statistics
extensive reference library;
short term office facilities;
access to database networks via the Internet and other on-line
services; and
arrangement of itineraries and briefings.
Investment facilitation and Promotion
Investment Identification: Identification of potential domestic and
joint venture partners. Targeting of potential investors in industry sectors where South
Pacific countries have a comparative advantage.
Investment Promotion: Assistance with the production of
brochures and investment information. Organisation of investment missions and seminars.
Human Resource Development
Services include short-term work experience and technical training
attachments for Pacific Islands governments, business and trades people with
Australian, New Zealand and other Pacific companies and organisations.
